چکیده

There is scientific support for the concept of a temperature set point that is, maintenance an optimal metabolic processes life depends on Nervous activity in preoptic-anterior hypothalamus brain triggers heat losing (sweating, etc.) or generating (shivering and muscle contraction, activities through stimulation autonomic nervous system. The pre-optic anterior has been shown to contain warm sensitive, cool insensitive neurons, determine body's setpoint. As these neurons are exposed rises above 37 °C (99 °F), rate electrical discharge warm-sensitive increases progressively.

Coprecipitation Synthesis of CoFe2O4 Nanoparticles for Hyperthermia

Cobalt ferrite (CoFe2 O4 ) nanoparticles have attracted significantly attentions for spintronics, recording media and bioapplications due to their unique magnetic and chemical properties. In this work, single phase CoFe2 O4 nanoparticles were synthesized at various coprecipitation temperatures (60, 80 and 90 °C) without post calcination. The effects of oleic acid as surfactant on the microstruc...

In vitro comparison of conventional hyperthermia and modulated electro-hyperthermia

Radiofrequency-induced hyperthermia (HT) treatments for cancer include conventional capacitive coupling hyperthermia (cCHT) and modulated electro-hyperthermia (mEHT). In this study, we directly compared these methods with regard to in vitro cytotoxicity and mechanisms of action under isothermal conditions. Hepatoma (HepG2) cells were exposed to HT treatment (42°C for 30 min) using mEHT, cCHT or...

Perioperative temperature elevation: not all hyperthermia is malignant hyperthermia.

OBJECTIVES The objective of this review is to assist the readers, anesthesiologists, intensivists, and emergency physicians in making a more accurate diagnosis of perioperative fever or hyperthermia and subsequently choose the proper course of treatment. AIM To identify the many sources of perioperative fever and after a more accurate differential diagnosis, select appropriate treatment optio...

Nonanesthetic malignant hyperthermia.

S USCEPTIBILITY to malignant hyperthermia (MH) is viewed as a pharmacogenetic trait dependent on exposure to inhalational anesthetics. Outside of the operating room, individuals susceptible to MH are usually asymptomatic. Events that occurred in the absence of anesthetics have been reported over the years and were originally termed awake episodes. In this issue of ANESTHESIOLOGY, two cases of n...
